Kathmandu, 11 August. Global IME Bank Limited has announced that it will provide financial support of Rs 5 crore to the Prime Minister's Divine Disaster Relief Fund for the search, rescue, immediate relief and long-term rehabilitation of citizens affected by the severe flash floods in the Bhotekoshi River. The bank made this announcement after the devastating floods in Bhotekoshi river caused extensive erosion and inundation in river coastal areas including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan and caused huge human and material damage.
Due to the rapid flow of the river, hundreds of citizens have died prematurely, many have gone missing and hundreds of families have been left homeless and displaced. In addition, the river has swept away local settlements, bridges, road networks and hydropower projects, causing unprecedented destruction. Expressing heartfelt condolences to the citizens who lost their lives in the floods and landslides and expressing deep condolences to the bereaved families, the bank has provided this assistance as part of its corporate social responsibility to search for the missing, treat the injured, provide immediate food and shelter to the affected, and help in the long-term reconstruction of the damaged structures.
