The Internal Revenue Department has announced the name of one person who will win a bumper gift of Rs 10 lakh in the first 15 days of July under the 'Buy Bills, Win Prizes' campaign. A consumer who purchased goods worth Rs. 250 from Shiv Krishna General Store has won this attractive prize. Similarly, during the same period, 15 more people have also won prizes at the rate of 1 lakh rupees per day. Minister of Finance Dr. Swarnim Wagle announced the bumper gift winners. This program has been started with the aim of formalizing and making the country's economy transparent by encouraging the practice of receiving and giving bills in the purchase and sale of goods and services. The government aims to develop Value Added Tax (VAT) as a sustainable source of revenue.

According to the Internal Revenue Department, a total of 16 gift winners have been selected during the period from 1st to 15th July 2083. This includes 15 daily winners, one each day, and one bumper gift winner for the first 15 days of July. The daily winner will get Rs 1 lakh 12 thousand 374 and the bumper winner will get Rs 10 lakh. The selection of the winners has been done using a technique called 'Cryptographically Secured Uniform Random Sampling'. Since it is a completely computer-based system, there is no possibility of human intervention or bias in it, Director General of the Internal Revenue Department. Bhishma Kumar Bhusal informed. This ensures the fairness of the selection process.

During the period from 1st to 15th July, consumers have registered details of 7 thousand 77 cash transactions, the total value of which is 80 million 24 lakh rupees. 3 thousand 915 sellers have participated in these transactions. Similarly, during the same period, more than 256 million 8000 rupees was transacted through online payment. Transactions worth 76 billion 603 million rupees for online payments do not need to be registered separately and they are automatically included in the gift program.

The coupon number and brief details of the selected winners will be published on the department's website. Keeping in view the personal privacy, the full name and mobile number of the winners will not be made public, the department said. Consumers who win the gift can contact the nearest Internal Revenue Office within 15 days to claim their prize money. This program has been introduced as part of the government's policy to encourage billing practices.
