New Delhi, 18 July. India is now going to conduct exploration of oil and gas minerals in seas and oceans as a campaign.   With the approval of Samudra Manthan (National Offshore Exploration Plan) by the Union Cabinet of India last Friday, India is embarking on an exploration campaign for oil and gas in seas and oceans. For the implementation of this plan proposed by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, a budget of 84 thousand 84 million Indian rupees has been approved for the financial year 2030-31. According to the ministry, this plan will prove to be an important step to strengthen India's energy security and increase domestic oil and gas production.

Informing about the matter, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the aim of this scheme is to discover oil and gas reserves in India's marine areas and then produce them. According to the estimates of the Government of India, new oil and gas reserves worth 600 million metric tons will be discovered through this initiative. The scheme also emphasizes adoption of new technologies.
