AI company Anthropic has launched 'Cloud Academy', a free online learning platform for those who want to learn AI. The platform is designed to target users ranging from general AI knowledge to programming and AI system development. Cloud Academy currently has 22 structured courses available. It teaches the fundamentals of AI, how to run the cloud, good instruction writing skills, programming, AI agents, APIs, Model Context Protocol and the capabilities and limitations of AI.
A basic course called 'Cloud 101' is provided for new users. It covers how to interact with the cloud, how to ask the right questions, how to create a project, and how to use different tools. Also available is 'Cloud Code 101' for those who want to learn programming and a comprehensive course for developers on building AI services and apps using cloud APIs.
The topic of what AI can do and where it can go wrong is also given special importance in academia. The user is taught how to check, compare, and use human judgment when necessary because the answers given by AI may not always be correct. Anthropic emphasizes four key skills for AI use. These include what tasks to give to AI, how to give clear instructions, how to check the quality of the answers received, and how to use AI responsibly and safely. There is no cost to study the course. Users can save their learning progress by creating a free account. Completion of assigned lessons and quizzes may also earn a certificate of completion or digital badge in some courses.
Although the courses at the Academy are free, not all cloud features taught there are free. A paid plan may be required to practice live using some special features. According to Anthropic, the purpose of the Cloud Academy is not only to train humans to operate AI, but also to enable AI to be used correctly, safely and responsibly.
