Koshi Province Secretary Koshahari Niraula has been assigned to Timure in Rasuwa for the work related to dead body management. It was decided to assign him to Timure by a ministerial decision under the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration. It was decided to deploy Timure on Sunday after a status written by Niraula on social network Facebook only on Saturday. He published his experience in managing dead bodies when he was the chief district officer of Morang during the Covid-19 epidemic.
He narrated his experience at that time mentioning that there was a big challenge in the management of dead bodies after the death of an infected person during Covid. He wrote that he managed about 15 dead bodies and it was difficult to get family members to participate in the last rites. Niraula disagreed with the process of burying the body and held the view that the last rites of the deceased should be performed according to their religion, tradition and culture. He wrote, "Who can compensate for the death of a person? However, it eases us from the hassle and compulsion to perform the last rites anonymously, while the relatives reduce the pain of losing their relatives without even seeing the last rites."
He mentioned that last rites are related to human sensibilities and rituals and said that the relatives of the deceased should be able to perform last rites according to their religion, traditions, customs and rituals. At the end of the status, he asked to be sensitive and mentioned that the relatives of the deceased are searching for the condition of their loved ones even after a few months. He also gave an example of a family that reached from Rasuwa to Gandak barrage in search of dead bodies of their relatives.
Niraula has now removed the said Facebook status. After the decision was made to assign Timure for the management of the body the day after the status was written to him, various discussions have started regarding his transfer. However, the government has not officially disclosed any reason for the direct link between the decision to change his responsibility and his Facebook status.
