The Department of Water and Meteorology has called for high vigilance, saying that there is a possibility that the flow in various rivers of the country will increase significantly and flash floods may occur. According to the department's flood forecasting branch, the flow will increase rapidly and there is a high risk of flash floods, especially in the small rivers flowing through Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts. Citizens living in the risk areas of these districts have been asked to take special precautions and relocate to safe places.
Similarly, there is moderate risk of flooding in other 31 districts of the country. Panchthar, Tehrathum, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu and Okhaldhunga of Koshi province and Ramechhap, Dolakha, Sindhuli, Sindhupalchok, Kavrepalanchok of Bagmati province and all the three districts of Kathmandu Valley – Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur – are in danger of flooding. In addition, the flow of rivers flowing through Dhading, Makwanpur, Gorkha, Lamjung, Tanahun, Syangja, Kaski, Parbat, Myagdi, Baglung and Gulmi districts is also predicted to increase.
Bardia, Kailali, Darchula, Baitadi, Dadeldhura and Kanchanpur districts of the western region are also at moderate risk of flash floods, so the residents of the small river banks of those areas have been asked to be especially cautious. Concerned bodies have requested the general public to continuously monitor the weather forecast and flood information, pointing out the possibility that the flow may suddenly increase in small rivers and creeks during the rainy season and this may cause loss of property.
