Jhapa. The armed police have seized a large quantity of farsi seeds being illegally transported to India from the border area of Jhapa's Mechinagar Municipality-6 Turkeni. The mobile patrol team deployed under the command of Yog Bahadur Thapa, Armed Police Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Force, Nepal Border Security Gulm Headquarters, Kakdvitta, seized the seeds on Saturday.
According to the Armed Police, 19 sacks (570 kg) of Parsi seeds, worth an estimated Rs 5 lakh, were seized for smuggling by evading customs. The process of handing over the seized seeds to the Mechi Customs Office for necessary legal action has been initiated.
