The police have arrested 29 people from Dhading on the charge of breaking the security vault (safe) of the bank which was swept away by the devastating flood in Trishuli river. A joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force took them into custody by running a special operation. So far, 92 lakh 68 thousand 505 rupees have been recovered from the arrested persons. Dhading police is preparing to issue an official statement about this incident. On the 10th of August last year, the severe flood in Bhotekoshi river in Rasuwa completely swept away the branch offices of nine commercial banks and one development bank in Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts.
In this catastrophe, 27 employees of seven commercial banks are still without contact. The flood destroyed all the bank's structures, due to which the cash in the bank, the gold and silver pledged by the borrowers and even the security vaults were washed away in the river. At the same time, a security vault washed away by the flood was found in Galchi rural municipality area of Dhading. National Independent Party MP Ashika Tamang, who was elected from Dhading Region No. 1, raised her voice on this issue through social media. She alleged that some local people broke the vault and distributed the money.
MP Tamang claimed that about 35 people under the leadership of a ward president of Galchi distributed the estimated 18 million rupees in the vault. After MP Tamang informed the district administration office and the police about the incident, the security agencies immediately started a search and rescue operation. According to the police, the search is on for other people who broke into the vault and took the money and the incident is being further investigated.
