The Internal Revenue Department has postponed the taxpayer incentive award announcement program, which is being conducted regularly, at a time when disaster conditions are being created in various areas of the country due to severe floods that centered on Rasuwa and Nuwakot. The department said that the scheduled program has been postponed for some time when the country is suffering loss of wealth and grief due to natural calamities.
Internal Revenue Department has been announcing Taxpayer Incentive Awards on the first day of every month i.e. 1st and 16th, since the current financial year. Under the same regular program, the award was announced on 16th of August, but it was decided to postpone the program in view of the severe floods in Rasuwa and Nuwakot.
According to the department, not only has the taxpayer incentive award announcement program scheduled for August 16 been postponed, the schedule for announcing the award winners for the entire month of August has also been changed. Now the names of all the winners who should be announced in the month of August will be announced on October 1st. Along with this, taxpayers who are expecting the award to be announced on August 16 have to wait for some more time.
The Internal Revenue Department has said that the regular program has been postponed, giving priority to the overall situation of the country and the suffering of the citizens during the natural calamity. The department says that regular programs related to celebrations or incentives have been postponed for the time being as the floods in Rasuwa and Nuwakot have caused great damage and the affected families, local communities and related agencies are focusing on rescue and relief due to the disaster.
The aim of the Taxpayer Incentive Award Program launched from the current financial year is to encourage taxpayers to fulfill their tax obligations regularly.
