The coordinator of the opposition party CPN and the leader of the parliamentary party Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has raised questions about the working style of Prime Minister Balen Shah. Addressing the meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Prachanda said that the Prime Minister should take all parliamentarians into confidence and proceed. He said that although it is positive that the Prime Minister came to the Parliament and briefed on some issues, that alone does not mean that the Parliament is taken into confidence. He commented that the Prime Minister did not try to take the MPs of his own party into confidence.
"The main leadership of the government came today and gave some briefings. In this sense, I say thank you. But others should have been taken into confidence. Taking the parliament into confidence is not only an empty opposition," said Prachanda. He also expressed his displeasure with the manner in which the Prime Minister comes to the Parliament and returns without communicating with the MPs. "He comes, leaves without looking at anyone's face, how is this? This is not the case. The Prime Minister belongs to all of us," he said. Prachanda said that Prime Minister Shah has now got a great opportunity and should not let it go. He said that the country is looking for effective leadership rather than long speeches.
"People are not looking for reassurance, they are looking for the presence of the government everywhere," he said. Prachanda said that since the country is currently in a state of crisis, there is a need for unity between political parties and all aspects of the state. He said that the main responsibility of maintaining such unity lies with the Prime Minister. He emphasized that the state should have an effective presence in times of crisis and calamity.
"Let the state be seen in crisis, let the nation be seen united in disaster. Unity is not done by me. Your leader, the prime minister, is also our prime minister," said Prachanda.
