Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen) has received an invitation from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit India. This invitation has been accepted by the Government of Nepal and the internal preparation process has been started accordingly. However, the government has not made a formal announcement in this regard. Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, who is currently in Mauritius to participate in the ninth Indian Ocean Conference, gave this information in a special conversation with Indian Online WION (WION). According to him, Indian Prime Minister Modi had invited him to visit India while sending a greeting message and Prime Minister Shah has gladly accepted the invitation.
However, the date and time of the visit is yet to be finalised. Foreign Minister Khanal said, "Our Prime Minister (Balen Shah) has received a congratulatory message as well as an invitation to visit and he has also accepted it. However, our mechanisms will take a decision regarding the date and time of the visit." Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Khanal had a meeting with Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar in Mauritius last Friday.
