Oli was found guilty in the report of the National Human Rights Commission

The National Human Rights Commission has held the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli guilty for the loss of property during the Genji movement on August 23 and 24. This conclusion has been drawn on Oli in the report of the investigation committee prepared by the Commission regarding the violation of human rights during the movement. According to the report of the commission, 19 people were killed in the shooting of security personnel when the protest against the ban on various social media became violent. Even though it is said that 23 more people died during treatment, the commission is of the view that Oli, who is in charge of running the state, cannot be fully absolved of responsibility based only on his claim that the then prime minister ordered the shooting.

The report also raised the issue of the cabinet not taking any decision regarding the assistance of the army even when the security mechanisms other than the Nepalese army failed while analyzing the security situation between the evening of 23rd August and the afternoon of 24th August.
