Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) has given an unprecedented speed to the milk payment process with the intention of giving fair value to the farmers for their hard work. According to the information released recently by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Environment, Geeta Chaudhary, the action plan put forward for the reform of DDC has prioritized the economic interests of farmers. During the last four months, about Rs. 12 crores have been received by the farmers out of the dues of Rs. This is an important milestone, which is expected to contribute to the financial stability of farmers. The goal is to complete one month's payment of the remaining amount by 13th May.
At present, DDC's daily turnover is around one crore rupees. A system has been implemented where the amount received from this daily transaction is paid to the farmers on the same day. The ministry has further clarified this issue and said, "It has been ensured that funds will be transferred to the farmer's account through daily transactions." An action plan is being prepared so that about Rs 46 crore out of the total outstanding amount will be paid in phases within the next two months. Minister Chaudhary assured and said, "Since the daily transactions and payment process are regular, the remaining amount will also be deposited in the farmer's account gradually. This will strengthen the continuity of the farmers' income." It is believed that this move will bring new enthusiasm to the Nepalese dairy industry and raise the morale of the farmers.
