After the Trishuli river cut the road in the Krishnabhir section of the Prithvi Highway, LP gas supply has been affected in the surrounding districts including Kathmandu Valley. Due to the blocking of the highway, the gas-laden bullets could not reach Kathmandu. After the supply chain was affected, Nepal Oil Corporation has decided to stop the sale and distribution of LP gas for commercial purposes including hotels, restaurants, canteens for the time being. According to the corporation, gas will be provided for household and essential purposes.
A meeting held on Wednesday between the officials of the Corporation and the officials of the Federation of Gas Vendors has decided to arrange arrangements to fill gas cylinders from Terai industries and bring them to Kathmandu through an alternative route. The gas so brought will be distributed proportionately and conveniently. According to the corporation, priority will be given to centers open for students, helpless, sick, senior citizens, ashrams, disabled people and flood victims based on their needs.
Commercial consumers have to manage gas at their own expense. Big hotels and businessmen have to coordinate with the related dealers or industries and take the empty cylinders to Terai industries and refill them and bring them through alternative routes. In order to prevent artificial shortage and black market in the market, it has been decided to monitor the market by including two representatives of gas sellers in the QRT team of the corporation.
