Istanbul (Turkey) 6 Baisakh. A courtesy meeting was held between the Speaker of the National Assembly, Narayan Prasad Dahal, and the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmus. President Dahal, who is in Istanbul to participate in the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Legislative Union (IPU), had a courtesy meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmus. In the meeting, relations between the two countries, mutual interests and parliamentary cooperation were discussed.
In the bilateral meeting, President Dahal mentioned that the relationship between the two countries should be made stronger and stronger through parliamentary cooperation and said that they are eager for the exchange of parliamentary experience, visits and the formation of parliamentary friendly groups. Discussing that the diplomatic relations between the two countries have been based on amity and mutual respect since 6 decades, President Dahal asked for the establishment of Turkish Embassy in Nepal to strengthen the bilateral relations in the future.
President Dahal said that there is a situation where Nepalis have to go to Delhi to do all the work related to Turkey, and he expressed his belief that the cooperation between the two countries will be easier if a Turkish embassy is established in Nepal as well as a labor agreement between Nepal and Turkey. President Dahal expressed his gratitude for the welcome and cordiality of the Turkish government and parliament at the IPU General Assembly. Meanwhile, Speaker of Turkish Parliament Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmus, said that he was happy to welcome the Nepali parliamentary delegation along with the National Assembly Speaker to Istanbul.
Mentioning that they are always ready to strengthen bilateral relations between Turkey and Nepal, Speaker Numan said that he is positive to open a Turkish embassy in Nepal. Mentioning that the Turkish government has arranged a limited quota of educational scholarships for Nepal, he expressed his commitment to increase the scholarship quota and also increase the trade between the two countries. Mentioning that COP 31 will be held in Turkey next November, Speaker Numan also requested Turkey to provide necessary support for its leadership.
In response, President Dahal wished for the leadership of COP 31 and mentioned that Nepal is positive for it. The members of the Nepali parliamentary delegation participating in the IPU were also present in the meeting.
