The Ministry of Health and Population has instructed hospitals across the country to operate OPD (out-patient) services on Sundays as well, with the aim of ensuring that the two-day public holiday system implemented by the government does not cause any disruption to health services. The ministry issued a statement and clarified that hospitals should continue OPD services on Sundays based on their workload and availability of manpower. Under this arrangement, hospitals may provide employees with one day off per week other than Saturday. If such leave is not possible, alternative leave will be arranged, the ministry said.
The ministry has requested the health ministries of all the seven provinces to implement this arrangement effectively even in the provincial hospitals across the country. This move is expected to ensure that the general public can get the necessary health care even on weekends.
