Mahankal rural municipality of Dakshina Lalitpur has taken an important step towards making the social security allowance distribution process citizen-friendly and accessible. This rural municipality has now started distributing social security allowances at the doorsteps of the beneficiaries, so that the citizens have been freed from having to run to the bank. According to Dolma Maya Gole, the vice president of the rural municipality, this 'door-to-door allowance' distribution system has been implemented keeping in mind the convenience of senior citizens, single women and physically challenged citizens. Geographical difficulties and the hassle of citizens of distant wards having to go to the bank at Gotikhel, the municipality center, to get their allowances are now over. Vice President Gole expressed her belief that this work will bring great relief to the residents of remote areas.
The official launch of this service has been done from Mahankal rural municipality-6 Lakkedurlang. Senior citizens, disabled persons and single women have expressed great happiness on receiving allowance at home. The municipality is preparing to expand this facility to all wards of the municipality in the coming days. Meanwhile, according to Vice President Gole, necessary services such as citizenship recommendation, social security services and personal incident registration will be provided at the ward level by conducting mobile camps. With the slogan "No more in the municipality, service at your home", the rural municipality has expressed its commitment to continue the campaign to make service delivery more efficient and citizen-centric. This initiative has strengthened the local government's commitment to accountability and service to citizens.
