Parliament's interest in Beruzu control, preparations to bring 'fast track' plan

Kathmandu, 31 June. The Public Accounts Committee has indicated that it will conduct a special campaign to control the increasing amount of money in government offices every year. With the aim of strengthening financial discipline, the committee has started preparations to implement a 'fast track' action plan to speed up the process of bankruptcy. The chairman of the committee, Bharat Bahadur Khadka, said that the Beruzu problem is not only a matter of audit, but an issue directly related to economic governance, and said that policy reform is necessary for its long-term solution. According to him, the reasons for the increase in unemployment will be identified through phased discussions with the relevant ministries and agencies and measures for improvement will be implemented.

The 63rd annual report of the Auditor General has shown that more than 3 trillion 78 billion 53 crore rupees are missing under the federal government alone. Similarly, it is mentioned that more than 33 billion 96 billion rupees in the provincial government and more than 2 trillion 20 billion rupees in the local level remain unaccounted for. It is mentioned in the report that more than 1 trillion 22 billion rupees are outstanding even in various committees and other public institutions. Ministry-wise, there is a significant gap in the Ministry of Finance, Infrastructure and Transport, Land Management, Forestry and Environment and Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. The committee has now said that the reduction of waste will be a top priority to make public expenditure more transparent, accountable and result-oriented.
