Nepal has been given the honor of 'Most Charming Tourism Destination' i.e. 'Most Attractive Tourist Destination' in Guangzhou, China. This honor was given to Nepal at the Guangzhou International Tourism Fair held in Guangzhou, China from May 21 to 23. According to the Nepal Tourism Board, the award was given to Nepal on the basis of Nepal's natural beauty, spirituality, cultural diversity and the attractiveness of adventure tourism. The Nepal Tourism Board coordinated Nepal's participation in the three-day international tourism fair with the slogan 'Nepal: A Lifetime Experience'.
In the fair, Nepal informed the international visitors and travel trade professionals about the diverse possibilities of cultural, religious, adventure, outdoor and luxury tourism. The city of Guangzhou in China is a major business and tourism center near Hong Kong and the Greater Way Area, so it is seen as an important market for the promotion of Nepalese tourism. According to the Nepal Tourism Board, there is a high possibility of attracting Chinese tourists, especially in the fields of wellness, religious, cultural and luxury tourism. On the opening day of the fair, a Nepali cultural dance performance and a special presentation about destination Nepal was organized on May 21.
Chinese visitors and tourism professionals were informed about Nepali art, culture and tourism heritage in the program. In the opening session, Bimal Kandel, senior manager of Nepal Tourism Board, gave a 'country presentation' about Nepal's tourism potential, destination and promotion strategy. He participated in a panel discussion on Nepal's tourism market expansion strategy. Eight tourism companies from Nepal participated in the fair. Participating companies informed Chinese and international tourism professionals about packages related to trekking, tours, hotel and hospitality services. Currently, Nepal Airlines Corporation and China Southern Airlines are operating Kathmandu-Guangzhou direct flights. The Nepal Tourism Board believes that this will help expand tourism access between Nepal and China as well as increase the arrival of Chinese tourists.
