Investigation committee's questioning of former home minister Gurung regarding the purchase of shares

The special committee formed to investigate former Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has started taking his statement from Thursday. An initial inquiry has been made regarding Gurung's share investment in Liberty Micro Insurance and Star Micro Insurance run in the name of Deepak Bhatt. A member of the committee spoke to Ratopati and informed that Gurung had been called and questioned. The statement process has not yet been completed. He resigned from the post of Home Minister on 9th Baisakh after questions were raised about the source of the share investment in Gurung's name in Bhatt's company. Gurung has claimed that he bought the shares with a contract. It is said that his investment amount is around 5 million rupees.
The Council of Ministers formed a committee under the leadership of former judge Achyut Prasad Bhandari on 28 May last year to investigate this matter. It has been claimed that the investigation of this committee, which has been fixed for 15 days, has reached its final stage. According to the members of the committee, the overall process of investigation is nearing conclusion even though the work of collecting evidence is going on. The committee has said that it is active to complete the report writing work as much as possible during the next four days of government holidays. Committee members said more evidence was coming in and efforts were being made to complete the report during the holidays.
Controller General of Accounts Sobkant Paudel and Associate Advocate of Attorney General's Office Achutamani Neupane are working as members in this inquiry committee.
