Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has publicly explained the various allegations and discussions involving his name in recent days. Commenting on social networking site Facebook, he said that the allegations leveled against him are misleading and untrue. He says that since the subject is presented in a complex way, it is necessary to clarify the reality. He denied the allegation of "hiding shares of 25 lakhs" and clarified that he had mentioned more than 20 million shares in his property statement. According to him, since all the shares traded in the securities market are not of the same nature, the details have been presented on the basis of classification, not hidden. He mentioned that his property details can be seen on the website of the Council of Ministers and said that it is unfair to question transparency.
Similarly, he responded to the issue of "purchase of shares before becoming a minister" and insisted that investing in shares is not a crime. He said that the investment made by him was raised through loans and there is a written proof of the same. Regarding the allegation of "partnership with a controversial person", he clarified that since there are thousands of shareholders in the same company, buying shares is not the same as sharing with everyone. He said that if such an argument is to be accepted, then all those who invested in the same company will have to be held guilty.
Gurung also clarified about the allegations related to 'conflict of interest' and said that the agency investigating this matter is not the Ministry of Home Affairs but the Department of Asset Laundering under the Ministry of Finance. He claims that the same body is investigating according to the procedure and that he did not interfere. He mentioned that risk is natural in business investment and said that it is not appropriate to blame previous decisions on the basis of past events. Also, he urged to differentiate between rumor and truth saying that it is not advisable to react hastily on a legally sensitive matter.
In the end, he mentioned that allegations and truth are different things and said that any decision should be based on evidence. He has also expressed his commitment to accept the decision made by the party and to fully support the investigation process.
