Foreign direct investment commitments fell sharply in February

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) commitments have come down significantly in February 2082. According to the Department of Industries, only a total of 386 million rupees in FDI commitments were received in February. FDI commitment of 40.28 billion rupees till January and till February its amount has reached only 40.66 billion rupees. In the current financial year, the highest FDI commitment received was over 20 billion till July. Reduction in the effect of public awareness movement According to the Department of Industry, the decrease in investment commitment started due to the public movement on 23 and 24 August. This trend is more visible in February.
Last year (2081), FDI commitments of Rs 17.79 billion were received in February, resulting in a total investment of Rs 44.66 billion approved till February. A total of 554 companies have been registered till February this year, of which 377 companies have been registered through the automatic route and 177 companies have been registered through the indirect route. Only 30 companies have been registered in February. Information about the nature of the registered company is given. Small-scale industries have made a major contribution, constituting the majority of the total 537 registered industries.
8 medium industries and 8 large industries have been registered. IT-related industries have attracted particular attention, representing 55 percent of the total registered industries. 155 tourism industries (28 percent) and 37 industries in manufacturing and 14 industries in agriculture have been registered. This figure reflects the significant contribution of small and information technology industries to economic activity.
