Door-to-door passport distribution service started by the government has been started in 14 districts so far. According to the Department of Postal Services, 311 passports have been delivered to the respective recipients' homes so far. Similarly, the service has been expanded with agreements with districts including Gulmi, Dadeldhura, Jhapa, Sindhupalchok, Kalikot, Makwanpur, Bajhang, Kaski, Morang, Dhankuta and Baitadi, while in other districts, the process of distributing passports after receiving them from the district administration office has been started.
All the district administration offices have started collecting the addresses of the customers coming to make passports. Significant progress has also been made towards the distribution of driver's licenses. 2083 Baisakh 15th till 3 pm, 2 lakh 56 thousand 126 licenses have been sent to the relevant transport office. The work of delivering licenses to homes has also been started in coordination with the transport office from Morang and Kaski districts. The Department of Postal Services has also advanced work in various other areas.
The agreement with the National Public Health Laboratory regarding laboratory sample transportation has reached its final stage. Technical preparations have been started with Nepal Telecom to deliver the SIM card to the doorstep. The department informed that the second phase of discussion for the transportation of certificates with Tribhuvan University has been completed. Shipping of question papers, answer sheets and certificates has started with Midwest University. According to the department, work is being done to form a study committee for system interoperability with the passport department, to take initiatives for system integration with the Comptroller General's Office.
Under the 100-day agenda announced by the government on March 13th, the aim is to modernize the postal service and develop it as "Government Courier Service". For this, coordination is being done between the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. Minister of Communication Dr. Bikram Timilsina, playing an active role in the implementation, has instructed the relevant agencies to be ready for cooperation and problem solving.
