Kathmandu, June 15. President Ramchandra Paudel has said that the republic has guaranteed us all political rights and this is a great inspiration and a charge for nation building. President Paudel expressed this opinion while addressing the ceremony held at Sainik Manch Tundikhel on the occasion of the 19th Republic Day 2083. "The Republic has guaranteed us all political rights, it has also given us the opportunity to move forward unitedly for a better future, it has united the countrymen and inspired us to resolve to build a common nation, because it has given us the ownership of our race, language, religion, sect, civilization and land, so this is a great inspiration and responsibility for nation building for us", he said.
I hope that to save the dignity of the republic and to make it more prosperous, we all should work unitedly with changes in political integrity, values and conduct. President Paudel emphasized that the republic is not a system, it is also a practical political, economic and social way of life. "It has its own values and moral limits, we cannot fulfill the duty of history by forgetting them, let this day inspire us to move forward in the highest and most meaningful practice of the federal democratic republic with social justice, development and growth and to bring politics, state and politics within the boundaries of ethics, integrity and values", he said.
He mentioned that after the successful completion of the House of Representatives elections, a government with a strong mandate has been formed and it has decided to advance good governance for prosperity, improvement in public service delivery, economic revival, zero tolerance against corruption and social progress as its basic guidance as per the wishes of the people. In addition, he expressed the belief that the implementation of the government's decision to make structural and legal reforms for the sake of a borderless economy and weightless trade will awaken hope in the people by fully implementing the 100 agenda of governmental reforms.
"We should all understand that the changes in the political system and government structure alone do not fulfill the expectations of the era, for this it is necessary to change the character, conduct, political integrity and values of our state power, otherwise the behavior will not confirm the political change", said President Paudel. He said that our greatest enemy today is none other than procrastination, irregularity and delay. He emphasized that our concern should not disappoint the citizens who have a beautiful dream of a democratic republic.
"Until the light of hope is lit in the lives of each of our citizens, the goal of the federal democratic republic, which we have exchanged blood and sweat for, will not be fulfilled", President Paudel said. He said that today citizens are looking for development with good governance and for this it is necessary to use our resources to the maximum. And only if we can strengthen our agriculture, tourism, energy and industrial and service sectors. "And only through economic development and prosperity can we connect governance with the lives of citizens, this is our historical responsibility for today, in this sense, today has reminded us of our historical responsibility, I hope we will not forget this responsibility", President Paudel said.
He expressed the view that political achievements alone are not enough to connect change with the lives of citizens, we have to change the character of our government and we have to change the character of politics, party and leaders. "In order to achieve the significance of the excellence of the republic, I think that it should not be delayed to make our politics, our governance style, political parties and people's representative organizations fully democratic, fair, competitive, just and effective", he said.
President Paudel said that now we should try with all sacrifice and humility to strengthen the achievements we have achieved. Also, we emphasized on the need to ensure economic and social development with social justice on the basis of political rights. "Our political party, our government, our leadership must be creative, polite and responsive to the people and have character and conduct, our government structures and state organs must be made dynamic and result-oriented, we must guarantee governance", he said.
Referring to the context of the federal democratic republic specified by our constitution, which includes political, economic, social, religious and cultural freedom of the citizens, justice for the privileged and income for the poor, President Paudel mentioned various types of rights, but all those rights expressed the opinion that the issue of providing the people with unlimited freedom and the opportunity to raise their standard of living is the end of the philosophy carried by the federal democratic republic.
"We all know that the democratic republic is the best political system in the world. Through the constitution made by the people themselves, we have enriched it with the abstract values of federalism, inclusiveness, social justice and democracy-based socialism, so there is no other system more advanced in the world", said President Paudel. He also said that this is because this system has made citizens sovereign, the source of state authority and power has been considered to be completely citizens, our constitution has recorded civil supremacy as a great achievement and we are engaged in its practice, this practice has brought the authority of Singha Darbar to villages.
President Paudel said that the local and state governments are fulfilling their responsibilities according to the constitution and said that in this government system, sovereignty is being exercised from the people's backyard. "There is a liberal, advanced democratic practice that can be addressed through the government structure if there is a citizen's complaint, it strengthens the roots of democracy, it has been established that the people are the ultimate master in democracy", said President Paudel.
He said that today is a special day for us and this day is not just an ordinary day, it is a historic day for us, because exactly 19 years ago we got a democratic republic with civil supremacy. On this historic occasion, President Paudel has paid his heartfelt tribute to all the martyrs who sacrificed their precious lives in various historical movements and struggles in various periods of history to establish a federal democratic republic with pluralism-based democracy, people's rights, civil liberties, and good governance.
In addition, he said that he would like to express his gratitude and thanks from the heart to the warriors of democracy who endured many tortures including jail, nail, exile during the movement and who are undeterred and active in the cause of change. He said that on this occasion, he would like to respectfully remember the leaders of the civil society and political parties who made great sacrifices and hard work to reach the Federal Democratic Republic.
The ceremony was attended by Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Balendra Shah, Chief Justice, Speaker, Speaker of the National Assembly, Cabinet, Heads of Constitutional Bodies, Heads and Representatives of Diplomatic Missions in Nepal, high-ranking government officials and dignitaries from various sectors of society.
